PCA Teaching Elder Marvin Padgett ‘retires’ from Publishing
Worked 15 years in acquisitions for Crossway and P&R Publishers
Close friends have learned not to use the words 'War Eagle' within hearing range of Marvin as he Roll Tides about as strongly as any non-Alabama born University of Alabama alum is allowed to.
Former Saint’s Remorse: Jason Stellman’s conversion
Leaving the Reformed Faith for Roman Catholicism on Scripture and Soteriology
What is striking about Rome’s teaching in Stellman’s account is its consequence for how we think about sainthood. According to Protestantism, I…am a saint already here and now by virtue of faith in Christ and the imputed righteousness and holiness that come by through saving faith. This is why most Reformed creeds and catechisms teach about the communion of the saints.
Tim Keller on How to Provide a Rational Justification for the Christian Faith
Saying 'Just believe' is not enough!
"If there's no God, you have no reason to be upset at the suffering in this world. That's just the way it is. It takes faith to get mad at this world."
Colorado Springs Graphic Artist Creates Tribute to Shooting Victims
A loving tribute to senseless deaths
“Not everybody understands why you would go to a movie at midnight but this is a community of fans,” said Rantal. “You’re sharing the evening with 500 fans. The event up at Aurora had just such a community. We didn’t know their names but they were part of our crew, part of our community. That’s why... Continue Reading
Congratulations to our 1,000th Facebook Friend
And to the Facebook Friend who shared our site with him
One of the side effects of this contest was to learn some details about who is reading The Aquila Report. Quite honestly, we were pleasantly surprised. Neither one is a Minister. Neither one is a Presbyterian.
Sinners in a Fishbowl
PKs aren’t different from anyone else. We are just sinners under the microscope.
It isn’t a different gospel that is needed. It’s not a different Jesus. It’s just a real gospel and a real Jesus. See, when every day of our lives is doused in a deluge of Jesus/gospel/Bible talk from our earliest memories, it is so easy for it all to become rote or rubbish to us. Satan’s greatest weapon against church kids is familiarity, and the contempt it breeds. So we need our families, biological and Christological, to show us the gospel.
Farewell to the Blogosphere
All other good things we do must center in the proclamation of Jesus to lost sinners.
Editor's Note: Word spread during the day on Tuesday that Wes White was closing down his blog. Here is his final post.
Rich Mouw on Why Evangelicals Need to Be Quick to Listen to Mormons
The president of Fuller Theological Seminary on 'Talking with Mormons.'
We have to make a distinction, though, between the "working theology" of Mormonism today and its previous declarations. In the past, they put much more emphasis on good works. The most important development in recent decades has been an increasingly strong emphasis on the substitutionary atonement of Christ on the cross.

Lessons from a ‘flying pair of pliers’
One of the store workers was on a tall ladder near where I was engrossed in my key hunt. Suddenly, without warning, I got clobbered in the head with something heavy. Looking down on the floor I saw a large pair of pliers. I got hit on the head by a pair of pliers! While... Continue Reading
Marital Submission and Syria’s First Lady: A Lesson for Christian Women
Asma al-Assad's inaction over her husband's unjust rule holds an important lesson for married Christians.
“[Bashar al-Assad] is the President of Syria, not a faction of Syrians, and the First Lady supports him in that role,” wrote Asma. “The First Lady’s very busy agenda is still focused on supporting the various charities she has long been involved with . . . [and] she listens to and comforts the families of the victims of the violence.”
