The Military Times – the family of newspapers that deal with military issues for each service – has an online page called ‘Honor the Fallen’. They have given The Aquila Report permission to list the names in an article in our magazine once a month. Here is the list for July.
Each day I look at hundreds of Google extracts doing searches for the words ‘Presbyterian’, ‘Evangelical’, and ‘Reformed’. Many of these results are funeral announcements. Over the past couple of years I have been stunned by the number of funeral announcements were for our soldiers and Marines (and a few Navy and Air Force) serving in combat areas.
Then last week, a newly retired PCA Army National Guard chaplain – David Gilleran, pastor of Hope Presbyterian church in Martinsville, VA – posted some of these listings on his Facebook page. I was thrilled to see that the names and information were readily available to the public.
The Military Times – the series of newspapers that deal with military issues for each service – has an online page called ‘Honor the Fallen’. They have given The Aquila Report permission to list the names in an article in our magazine once a month (this information is available on DOD public pages but they organize it perfectly for out purposes.
Listings are by dates. We encouge our readers to look for any that may be from their locals. The names are all hyperlinks back to the Military Times where you can see a picture (we are not allowed to reprint those) and get more information about the individual – many including home town obituary notices.
But each of us, after we review this list each month, can spend some time having a ‘Memorial Day’ prayer for those who have paid the ultimate price to help keep our nation free.
