The Presbyterian Renewal Network’s Reclaim Biblical Teaching campaign recently announced new tactics in reaching out to Presbyterians in advance of voting on proposed changes to the Presbyterian Church (USA) constitutional.
The campaign was launched in August and will target presbytery voting on Presbyterian Church (USA) ordination standards. Another goal is providing resources on the proposed new Form of Government (nFOG) and adding the Belhar Confession to the Book of Confessions, which also are up for consideration by PCUSA presbyteries.
Campaign organizers also recently commissioned regional directors, who will work at the presbytery level in advance of votes. This is the first time regional directors have been used, according to a campaign news release.
“These are capable resource people for Presbyterians able to get materials into peoples’ hands and help to equip networks in preparation for votes on these challenging issues that lie right in front of us,” Presbyterian Coalition Renewal Advisor Terry Schlossberg said.
“This is an ‘all hands on deck’ situation. The Regional Directors invite pastors and elders to seek them out. We are continuing a search for additional directors in areas not yet covered…”
Also part of this campaign is a focus on prayer and Scripture reading, which organizers are posting on the Web in the form of a weekly guide.
This week’s Scripture focus is on John 1. The weekly call to prayer includes specific presbyteries to lift up, as well as a daily prayer chart.
