The Lord has seen fit to take home one of his faithful servants, Marshall St. John. I never met him in person, but I enjoyed reading his articles and interacting with him over the internet. I’m sad to see him go, but our heavenly Father had other plans.
Editors Note: We will have a visitation at the Chattanooga Funeral Home on Hwy 153 on Monday night, 9/5 from 5-8pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2pm at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. The family provided the following information.
Here is how his church described him:
Pastor St. John graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1971, with a BA in English Bible. In 1975 he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Faith Theological Seminary (Elkins Park, PA), and a Dr. of Ministry degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in 1987.
Dr. St. John met his wife Grace while studying at Faith Seminary, and they were married in the seminary chapel in 1973. Before pastoring Wayside, Pastor St. John served the Bible Presbyterian Church in Concord, North Carolina for 13.5 years. Marshall and Grace came to Signal Mountain in 1989.
Their daughter, Becky Rogers, lives in Munich, Germany with her husband Sloan, who works for BMW there. Their son David is a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, and has plans to eventually become a lawyer. Pastor St. John’s hobbies include walking, reading, playing the cello, and marksmanship. He also enjoys building websites, including the one for Wayside Presbyterian Church.
Read his account of the history of the PCA here. I had been meaning to post his overview of PCA history for a while. I suppose now is as good an occasion as any. [Editor’s note: the original URL (link) referenced is no longer valid, so the link has been removed.]
